Interior tourism: visit Banyoles lake, medieval village of Besalú, basalt cliff Castellfollit de la Roca, and volcanoes and Natural Park in Olot.
Setting out from Girona around 9 a.m. we will head for Banyoles Lake where will have the chance to wander along the shore of Europe’s unique lake, as far as its formation goes, to reach the Romaneque Church of Santa Maria de Porqueres.
The Font Pudenta (Stinking Fountain ) is worth stopping at for a sip of water while finding out why it bears this name.
A medieval village where some film scenes of The Perfume were shot and whose must-see attractions include the impressive Romanesque bridge, the Medieval Quarter , the Old Sinagogue, the Main Town Square (Plaça Major) and the old city walls, all of which are worth exploring as you wander around.
We will travel on to Castellfollit de la Roca to gaze at one of the most widely photographed and painted sights in Catalonia consisting of the town church steeple and its houses perched up on the edge a breathtaking basalt cliff which makes the finest scenic viewpoint so as to enjoy the river valley scenery below
In the afternoon we will wander around Olot's old town and shortly after, we will head further inland to visit one of the volcanoes in the Garrotxa Natural Park from where we will enjoy magnificient views of the volcano's crater overlooking Olot and the Garrotxa area.
Once the visit finishes, we will drive back to Girona arriving there by 6 p.m.
